First Show of 2017 at Oakley Equestrian Center

Jessica Moorhouse is a PonyCouture equestrian blogger and has been riding since she was around four years old. Jessica, now 16, competes her horse Rocky who is a ten year old Bay Friesian X Cob in dressage, cross country, showing, showjumping and hound exercises. Rocky stands at 15.3hh and Jessica has owned him since 2015, she says of Rocky “He won lots of rosettes in 2016 but the best part for me was seeing how he's grown in confidence and how he's given me the confidence to do things I never thought I would. By the end of 2017 I hope to have completed our first one day event.”

Our first show of 2017 was supposed to be show jumping but it was cancelled due to the frost. So a week later we tried again this time with Dressage at Oakley's Equestrian Centre in Crowle.

I've been doing a lot of schooling with Rocky lately as I know last year I didn't do enough, and he's coming along really well. His outline is getting there and he can canter circles now on both reins, so the dressage show was just a nice calm first show to get him back into it so I didn't expect him to get placed.
He warmed up really well and did a super test, his best to date so I was really happy with him! To then find out we came 6th with 70.22% our highest score to date was amazing I couldn't be prouder of him!

Then to read the test sheet and see he got a 8 for his canter really made me feel proud of how far he's come in the time I've had him. We got a lot of lovely comments from other riders and people watching commenting on how gorgeous his browband is! Can't wait for the next show but couldn't of started the year of better!
